The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) launched a strong protest against the repeated increase in fuel prices, accusing the Union government of burdening ordinary people while failing to address their growing economic distress.

Addressing a protest march to the BSNL office in Thrissur, AIYF State Joint Secretary Prasad Pareri alleged that the Centre's policies have enabled oil companies to exploit the public through frequent fuel price hikes.

"The government is looting ordinary people by repeatedly increasing fuel prices. In just the past two weeks, prices have been hiked six times," he said.

Prasad Pareri criticised the Union government for citing international market fluctuations and conflicts in West Asia as reasons for the price increases. He argued that such explanations were being used to shield corporate interests while placing an unbearable burden on common citizens.

He further stated that the aggressive neoliberal policies pursued by the Narendra Modi government have strengthened corporate dominance and intensified economic hardships faced by working people across the country.

Accusing the Centre of inaction, AIYF leaders said the government has failed to take meaningful measures to provide relief to the people and instead continues to serve corporate interests.

Calling upon the public to resist the unjust fuel price hikes, Pareri warned that AIYF would intensify its statewide agitation, including protest marches and mass mobilisations against the anti-people policies of the Union government.

The protest programme was presided over by AIYF District President Binoy Shabeer, with participation from AIYF activists and local residents.
